An insurance agency representing Bill Cosby has agreed to settle lawsuits filed by seven women who claim the entertainer defamed them by accusing them of lying about sexual misconduct allegations. The terms of the agreement are confidential. Cosby's spokesperson says that AIG went ahead with the settlement without the 81-year-old's knowledge or consent. "Mr. Cosby vehemently denies the allegations brought against him in these defamation suits and he maintains his innocence," spokesman Andrew Wyatt said in a statement. Wyatt says that Cosby still plans to pursue counterclaims against the women. Cosby is currently serving three to 10 years at SCI-Phoenix in Montgomery County. A federal judge handling the case in Springfield, Massachusetts, must approve the settlement.

Gun threats at Philadelphia schools prompted three separate lockdowns on Friday, 4/5. J. Hampton Moore Elementary School in Northeast Philadelphia was placed on lockdown at 8:43 a.m. for a child with a gun. Philadelphia Police responded and determined the gun was a plastic toy. It was lifted at 9:44 a.m. At 10:17 a.m., Police were called to the Universal Daroff Charter School on the 5600 block of Vine Street in West Philadelphia. An 8-year-old student was in possession of a weapon in his backpack. Authorities quickly took control of the situation and found the unloaded gun. The lockdown was lifted at at 10:27 a.m. Around the same time Thomas Holme School on the 9100 block of Academy Road in the Northeast was locked down. A female student brought in a live round of ammunition. That lockdown was lifted at 10:43 a.m.

A Bucks County man is charged with attempting to kill his wife after he was caught beating, choking, and stabbing her with a screwdriver on Thursday afternoon, 4/4. It happened around 3:30 p.m. on the 200 block of South Olds Boulevard in Falls Township. Police responded to a 911 call about a man attacking a woman. They found 24-year-old Bao Thien Le choking his 22-year-old wife inside their apartment. They had to pry him off of her. She had several stab wounds to her head and torso. Luckily, none of her injuries were life-threatening. Le is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime, strangulation, and recklessly endangering another person. Bail was set at 10% of $9 million.
