Suspect ID'd in Flacco FDR Park Murder; NE High School Lockdown; 28,000 Chickens Die in Fire

Philadelphia Police identified a suspect on Wednesday afternoon, 4/3, wanted in the murder of 20-year-old Nick Flacco. Police are searching for 19-year-old Tyquan 'Fats' Atkinson. His last known address is on the 1600 block of South 32nd Street. The shooting took place late on Saturday night in FDR Park on the 1900 block of Pattison Ave. Flacco, who is the son of Philadelphia Internal Affairs Chief Inspector Chris Flacco, was in the park tailgating with friends following a Phillies game. A fight broke out between two groups and a female member of the other group threatened to "call her man and that they should be afraid." Police say that's when Atkinson arrived with a revolver. Witnesses say he first fired in the air and at the ground. Friends of the victim dared him to shoot at them, not believing it was a real weapon. Atkinson left and returned a short time later. He pointed the gun and fired at Flacco, hitting him in the chest. Police say he is considered armed and dangerous. Atkinson is described as a 6-foot-tall black male, and weighing around 160 pounds. Anyone with information should call 911.

UPDATE 4/3 6:30 p.m.: US Marshals have taken 19-year-old Tyquan "Fats" Atkinson into custody in the 800 block of Upland Street in Chester.

A school in Northeast Philadelphia was on lockdown for about an hour this morning, 4/3, after a student threatened to shoot up the school. It happened around 10:45 a.m. at the Swenson Arts and Tech High School located on the 2700 block of Red Lion Road. During class, a male student threatened to shoot up the school. The building was placed on lockdown as officials searched. No weapon was found. The lockdown was lifted at 11:40 a.m. The student was taken into custody.

Almost 28,000 chickens died in a fire that tore through a barn in Berks County on Tuesday night, 4/2. It happened around 7 p.m. at A&L Farms on the 3000 block of Mountain Road in Upper Bern Township. Fire crews arrived to find the barn engulfed in flames with parts of the roof collapsed. The building was a few hundred feet long. It took 3 hours for firefighters to bring it under control. No farm workers or firefighters were injured. The damage could be in the millions of dollars. The cause is under investigation.

An American Airlines flight from Philadelphia to Orlando made an emergency landing at Wilmington International Airport in North Carolina on Tuesday afternoon, 4/2. The flight crew of Flight 809 detected the odor of possible electrical fumes in the cockpit of the Airbus A321. Oxygen masks were deployed and the plane was rerouted to Wilmington, NC. There were 178 passengers and six crew members aboard. The plane landed fine and taxied to a gate where everyone deplaned. No one was hurt.
