Archdiocese of Philadelphia Will Announce High School Appeals Today at 3pm

UPDATE: All Four Philadelphia Catholic High Schools Will Be Saved

Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput will announce his decision on the appeals of the 3 Catholic high schools today at 3 pm. The Blue Ribbon Commission had recommended closing West Catholic, St. Hubert, Conwell-Egan and Bonner-Prendergast High Schools last month. The 3 later schools filed appeals of that recommendation, West Catholic did not.

Last week, just before the Archdiocese had planned to release its decision on all appeals, there was some last minute changes to the financial situation involving those high schools, as some large potential donors surfaced. Archbishop Chaput decided to put off his decision on the high schools for a week to consider this new information.

The Archdiocese did announce its final decisions on appeals for elementary schools last week. 18 elementary schools were granted their appeal and will remain open. (18 Catholic Grade Schools Have Won Appeal to Remain Parish Schools)
