A man is now in custody after a barricade situation snarled rush hour in Center City on Friday afternoon, 3/29. It started just after 5 p.m. on the 1500 block of Ranstead Street located to the southwest of City Hall. Philadelphia Police were called out for the report of vandalism. A man with a knife was breaking windows. When confronted the man went into a building and officers declared a barricade. At times, roads near City Hall were closed down including 15th and 16th Streets causing major traffic problems. The man was taken into custody around 7:30 p.m. without incident.

Temple University held its second free MMR Vaccine Clinic in response to the recent mumps outbreak on Friday, 3/29. Between Wednesday and Friday, officials say they gave out 4,819 booster shots. There have been over 100 confirmed and possible cases of the highly contagious viral disease since the outbreak started last month. "We hope to eventually stop this outbreak," Philadelphia Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley said. Mumps is spread through saliva and close contact. It would take over two weeks for symptoms to show. Officials do expect to see more cases.

Sara Parker pled guilty to 19 counts in Bucks County court on Friday afternoon, 3/29, in the 2016 rape, murder and dismemberment of her 14-year-old daughter Grace. She admitted in court last week during the sentencing hearing of her boyfriend, Jacob Sullivan, that she plotted to kill the adopted daughter. She said that she hated the teenager and "wanted her to go away." Parker was sentenced to life in prison. Sullivan pled guilty to first-degree murder and related offenses and was sentenced to death by a jury.
