CCP Teachers Vote to Approve Strike; Man Wields Knife in Fishtown; Man Fighting With Himself at Wawa

Faculty and staff members of the Community College of Philadelphia voted on Wednesday night, 3/27, to go on strike. The strike could begin on or after April 1st if there is no further progress in negotiations with school administration. The American Federation of Teachers Local 2026 represents 1,200 members at CCP. The vote to strike came after three years of contract negotiations. All but 4 members voted to approve the strike. Teachers have been looking for higher salaries with lighter workloads and more resources to teach. There are 27,000 students at CCP.

A man wielding a knife was caught on video threatening people on the street in Fishtown on Tuesday night, 3/26. It happened around 10 p.m. at the intersection of Front St and Girard Ave near the El. The man was apparently freaking out and approaching people with a knife out and threatening to kill them. Some people sustained scrapes and bruises dealing with the man, until police finally arrived and took him into custody. No one was stabbed or seriously injured. He is being charged with aggravated assault. A witness recorded cell phone video.

A man was arrested for "fighting with himself" and pulling his pants down at a South Jersey Wawa store on Tuesday night, 3/26. It happened around 9 p.m. at the Mystic Islands Wawa in Little Egg Harbor Township. Police were called for reports of a man acting in a suspicious manner and perhaps under the influence. Officers made contact with 37-year-old Jason Cramer of New Gretna. They first spoke with him and sent him on his way. Cramer was supposed to make arrangements for transportation home. About 15 minutes later, police were called out to the Wawa again. This time witnesses say that Cramer had returned and was "fighting with himself" out front. He was punching himself in the face and scratching his eyes. Cramer also pulled his pants off and exposed his genitals. This time he was arrested and charged with lewdness. He was released pending a court date.
