New Amtrak 30th Street Digital Board; AC Mayor Cleared of Charges; Kidnapper Arrested, Body in Trunk

The new Amtrak schedule board is now up and running in Philadelphia's 30th Street Station. The 'Passenger Information Display System' replaces the iconic Solari flip board and its distinct clickety-clack sound that stood since the 1970's. The removal of the old board was met with opposition from the nostalgic public. The new board, however, is more efficient, ties in with Amtrak's other systems, and is ADA compliant. It is supposedly easier to read and now gives more specific departure and arrival information to passengers who can't hear the public address announcements. The old board will go on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg.

The mayor of Atlantic City has been cleared of criminal charges following a fight outside of a casino nightclub last year. Frank Gilliam Jr. was caught on video in a brawl with several people outside the Golden Nugget casino on November 11. On Thursday, 2/28, a judge in North Wildwood dismissed charges of assault and harassment against the mayor. City Councilman Jeffree Fauntleroy II was fined $500 fine for impeding traffic in a public space. Following the incident, the prosecutor's office did not file any charges but casino nightclub staff members filed citizen complaints against the elected officials alleging harassment and simple assault. "The justice system basically proved itself on what we stated from the very beginning," Gilliam said. "The mayor was accosted and attempted to protect himself," the mayor's lawyer Vincent Campo said. "He's entitled to do that."

Delaware State Police took a man into custody and recovered a body from the trunk of the vehicle after a traffic stop on I-95 near Churchman's Road in Newark on Thursday afternoon, 2/28. Louis D. Coleman III of Providence, RI, was wanted in connection to the disappearance of 23-year-old Jassy Correia of Massachusetts. Correia was last seen leaving the Venu nightclub in downtown Boston early Sunday morning. She is a mother of a 2-year-old girl and had gone out to celebrate her birthday. Family has confirmed that it was her body in the trunk of the car, although authorities have not made a positive identification. The investigation continues.
