A water main break in Cherry Hill, NJ, on Thursday evening, 2/21, closed two lanes of Route 70 eastbound between Cornell and Sayer Avenue. The incident attracted news helicopters to the area, and some Phillies fans found the opportunity to send a 'big' message to team executives. Cameras in the sky captured images of "Sign Harper!" spray painted in large white lettering in the grass next to crews working on the water main break. The Philadelphia Phillies have been connected to rumors surrounding top free agent outfielder Bryce Harper all off season. The other top free agent, Manny Machado, signed a 10-year, $300 million contract with the San Diego Padres this week. The first exhibition game is today, Friday 2/22, and fans are anxious. The off season has already been production for the Phillies. They traded for catcher J.T. Realmuto and shortstop Jean Segura, and signed reliever David Robertson and outfielder Andrew McCutchen.

Several Wawa employees were attacked after trying to stop four suspects from stealing snacks and ransacking their Northeast Philadelphia store early Friday morning. It happened around 2:30 a.m. at the Tyson and Roosevelt Boulevard location. Two men and two women walked in and began stealing chips and drinks. Employees stepped in but were attacked. A 21-year-old male employee was bitten and scratched in the face, a 25-year-old man was maced, and a 20-year-old female suffered a cut to the lip. The suspects were met by police outside of the store and arrested. If they didn't attack the employees they may have only faced retail theft charges, instead all four are charged with felony assault and robbery. The employees were taken to Nazareth Hospital and are expected to be OK.

An 18-year-old was shot and killed and a woman narrowly missed in a shower of gunfire in West Kensington on Thursday night, 2/21. It happened around 10:30 p.m. on the 400 block of West Huntingdon Street. The incident was caught on police crime cameras. Police say that two men wearing dark clothing opened fire on the victim, hitting him several times. "They fled west on Huntingdon. One of the shooters was riding a bicycle. The other one was on foot," said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. There were 25 empty shell casings found. A woman was sitting nearby in her parked car. She sped off after her vehicle got hit with several bullets. She is OK and is being treated as a witness. The victim was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. Police are also looking at other cameras in the area.
