Five Injured in Roosevelt Blvd Crash; Body Found in Can in Mount Airy; Elevated CO in NJ Motel

Five people including three children and two adults were injured in a crash on Roosevelt Boulevard on Saturday afternoon, 2/16, in the Crescentville section. It happened around 4 p.m. in the southbound inner lanes near Whitaker Avenue. The three children were ejected in the two-vehicle crash. Two five-year-old children were transported to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, one is listed in critical condition, the other is in stable condition. A 10-year-old boy was taken to Einstein Medical Center with serious injuries but is in stable condition. A 35-year-old woman was also taken to Einstein. And a 55-year-old man was taken to Jefferson Torresdale. The cause of the crash is not known at this time.

Philadelphia Police are investigating after the body of a woman was found in a bag inside a trash can in Mount Airy on Saturday morning, 2/16. It happened just before 9 a.m. on the 1800 block of East Cliveden Street. A man was walking his dog and lifted the lid of a trash can to dispose of the dog waste when he saw a foot. Neighbors were shocked that something like this happened in their quiet neighborhood. Some neighbors also said that the trash can may have sat out there for the past few weeks but it didn't smell. The medical examiner will have to determine cause and manner of death and try to make an identification. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.

A 7-year-old girl passed away on Friday night, 2/15, at the Friendship Motor Inn Friday night in Carneys Point Township, New Jersey. The girl lived there in a room with her family, two adults and four children. The medical examiner determined that the girl died of natural causes due to an illness. They also found elevated levels of carbon monoxide in her system. However, they ruled out CO poisoning as a cause of death. Authorities were concerned for her grieving family still living in that motel room. Emergency crews responded to the motel again on Saturday morning to evacuate. All 6 members tested positive and were treated for elevated levels of CO. Police are investigating the cause of carbon monoxide.
