Philadelphia Police and school district officials are investigating after a stabbing incident inside a West Philadelphia elementary school on Thursday afternoon, 1/10. It happened around 2:30 p.m. at John Barry Elementary School on the 5900 block of Race Street. A 12-year-old girl stabbed an 11-year-old boy in the head with scissors. The sixth grade victim was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia with a cut to the back of his head. It was a non life-threatening injury and he is currently in stable condition. The girl was taken into custody. No word on what led up to the stabbing.

The Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City is reportedly being sold to an unnamed buyer. The current owner, Colorado developer Bruce Deifik, purchased the property in January 2018 from Florida developer Glenn Straub for $200 million. The hotel casino reopened it's doors on June 27th, 2018, the same day that the Hard Rock Casino opened theirs. The exact amount of the new sale is unknown but it is being reported that they will make a $70 million investment. There are plans to open a buffet, add additional suites and rooms, investments on the casino floor, and increase entertainment programming. The new majority owner will have to get a license from the state gaming commission as well as make themselves public before any sale could go through. Deifik and his family would retain a small, non-controlling ownership interest. The casino has been at the bottom of the list of Atlantic City casino gaming revenue.

Fire crews have brought a 2-alarm warehouse fire under control in the Roxborough/Manayunk section of Philadelphia. The fire started just before 9:00 p.m. Thursday 1/10 in a vacant warehouse on the 5000 block of Flat Rock Road. Large flames were coming from the roof when firefighters arrived. No one was reported injured. The building itself, located on Venice Island, was home to the historic Philadelphia Mill paper mill, which was in operation for over 200 years until it was closed in April 2017 by operator PaperWorks. At one point during the 1860s, the mill was the largest paper operation in the world.
