| Bucks County Toddler Death Ruled Homicide; Mariner East Criminal Investigation; Warminster Barricade |

The Bucks County Coroner has ruled the death of a toddler a homicide caused by blunt force trauma to the head. The autopsy was performed Wednesday night, 12/19. The 22-month-old boy was found dead in an apartment in Falls Township on Tuesday, 12/18. Police responded around 5 p.m. to the Commons of Fallsington apartment complex on the unit block Makefield Road in Morrisville. The Bucks County District Attorney's Office has already begun investigating. They found that the boy's twin brother died 17 months ago when they were both 5-months-old. The cause of the brother's death was ruled unknown natural causes, or SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome.) In light of this case, investigators will probably look back at that death as well. "We're gonna chase down every angle and make sure that we not only don't miss anything in this investigation but even look backwards in time to make sure that whatever was done back then, was done properly," said Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub. So far there have been no suspects or arrests made. Reportedly, there are 18 people living in the 2 bedroom apartment (7 adults, 11 children). Investigators spent hours on Wednesday collecting evidence.
Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan announced on Wednesday, 12/19, a criminal investigation into the construction of the Mariner East 1, 2, and 2X pipelines. The pipelines are being built to transfer natural gas 350 miles from western Pennsylvania to a terminal in Marcus Hook. The project is run by Sunoco Pipeline, a subsidiary of Dallas-based Energy Transfer Parters. "In the last two years, we have seen these pipelines rip through the heart of Chester County. We have seen sinkholes created by the pipeline drilling, contaminated well water, and some subtle and not-so-subtle bullying of Chester County citizens by big corporate interests. We expected the state regulators and the governor to step in and assure the safety of Pennsylvanians. They have not. So now the Chester County District Attorney's Office will demand that every aspect of these pipelines be conducted safely, or we will bring into play all of the tools of the criminal justice system," Hogan said in a statement.
Police and SWAT responded to a Bucks County neighborhood for a barricade situation on Wednesday morning. It all started just after 2:30 a.m. on the 900 block of Windsor Road in the area of Coronet Road and Henry Avenue in Warminster. Police responded to a call of a burglary in progress. 28-year-old Ryan Matthew Cooper was intoxicated, armed with a knife, and broke into the house. He had lived at the home with his now ex-girlfriend and her mother until just recently. Cooper threatened to harm himself and the family in the house and wouldn't let them leave. After an hour, officers were able to negotiate the release of the residents. The Central Bucks Special Response Team was on the scene. Eventually, the decision was made to go into the house after Cooper stopped communicating. He was found in a third floor bedroom and was taken into custody without incident. During the standoff there was a shelter-in-place for the neighborhood and Centennial School District rerouted school buses. The all clear was given at 8:05 a.m. and students were told to report to school. Cooper has been charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, false imprisonment, simple assault, and possessing an instrument of crime. He was sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of 10% of $200,000 bail.
