1 Dead in Apartment Fire in Media; Delaware Memorial Bridge Closed Gas Leak; Kendall Jenner Petition

A fire at a Delaware County apartment early Sunday morning took the life of a woman. It happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, 11/25, at a duplex on East Ridge Road near Providence Road in Media. The woman lived in the first floor apartment. The residents in the second floor including their dog were able to escape. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause.

The Delaware Memorial Bridge, which connects South Jersey and Delaware, is closed in both directions due to a gas leak from a plant next to the bridge. The bridge was closed down at around 5 pm Sunday, 11/25, just as many travelers are on their way home from the holiday weekend. The leak is coming from the Corda Atlas Point chemical plant next to the span on the Delaware side of the bridge. Ethylene oxide is highly-flammable and acute exposure can cause respiratory damage and nausea. Fire officials said there was a high risk of explosion, hence shutting down the highway. Traffic in the area is backed up for miles. It is recommended that travelers use a different bridge further north. It could take hours for the gas to dissipate.

UPDATE: The Delaware Memorial Bridge reopened just before midnight after being closed in both directions for about 6 hours.

Jenner, a member of the reality tv Kardashian family, could spread the family's notorious curse over NBA players just by being associated with Ben. Some Sixers fans have taken it upon themselves to create a petition asking to ban Jenner from future Sixers games at the Wells Fargo Center. In her first appearance in South Philly on Friday, 11/23, she sat court side a few feet from the Philadelphia bench.
