#ProtectMueller Protestors March in Philly; Point Breeze Triple Shooting; NJ Troopers Save Man

Protestors took to the streets across the country on Thursday, 11/8, to show support for Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 elections. In Philadelphia, protestors gathered at Thomas Paine Plaza before marching down Market Street. Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner attended. The demonstrations were prompted by a combination of the forced resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the appointment of interim Attorney General Matt Whitaker. This position oversees the Special Counsel's investigation. Whitaker has previously made comments critical of the investigation. 18 state attorney generals have sent a letter to Whitaker saying he should recuse himself from the investigation because they believe he has a conflict of interest. The organizers of Thursday's protests have been planning this 'Mueller Protection Rapid Response' for months. (https://www.trumpisnotabovethelaw.org/.) Protests would be set in motion only if certain red lines were crossed that put Mueller in jeopardy. President Trump is currently looking for a permanent appointment to the AG office. Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has been mentioned as a possibility.

Philadelphia Police are investigating after a triple shooting left a teenager dead and two other injured. It happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 11/8, on the 1200 block of S. 15th Street in Point Breeze. A 16-year-old boy was shot six times and pronounced dead at Presbyterian Hospital at 8:10 p.m. Another 16-year-old boy was shot in the right side and is listed in critical condition. A 20-year-old man was shot in the leg and is in stable condition. No arrests have been made. Anyone with any information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.

UPDATE: The teenager has been identified as Trevonte Marks, a 10th grader at Charter High School for Architecture and Design of Philadelphia.

Two New Jersey State Troopers pulled an unconscious man out from a burning car saving his life this past weekend. It was caught on dash cam video. It happened before 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 4th on Route 42 in Gloucester Township, Camden County. 53-year-old Anthony Branca of Hammonton was heading home from work in South Philadelphia when he veered off the road and into the guard rail. Troopers Christopher Warwick and Thomas O'Connor responded to the scene of the crash. While they were trying to get Branca out from the driver's seat, the front end of the Ford Fusion erupted in flames. They were able to pull him out just before the car became engulfed. Branca was not seriously injured. He told troopers he believed he may have fallen asleep after recently working long hours. The troopers don't want to be called heroes. "Any other trooper or law enforcement officer would have done the same thing," O'Connor said.
