Philadelphia Police are investigating after two South Philly locations were vandalized with anti-Columbus Day messages Monday, 10/8. The messages were spray painted on the sidewalk outside the History of Italian Immigration Museum on East Passyunk Avenue around 9:30 a.m. They said "Italian-Americans against racism" and "End Columbus Day." Also, "Slavery Genocide Rape Stolen Land Lenape Hoking." Another message said, "Columbus=Mussolini=Rizzo=Trump=Fascist." Similar messages were spray painted in front of the Christopher Columbus Statue on 2800 S. Broad Street in Marconi Plaza around 11:30 a.m. (see photo below). No arrests have been made yet.

Police are investigating after the body of a homeless man was found in a vacant lot in Roxborough. The decomposing body of Enrico Stanziani was discovered around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, 10/7, on the 7300 block of Ridge Avenue near where he lived in a tent in a wooded patch. He had been stabbed several times. His death has been declared a homicide. 'Eni' was well known in the neighborhood and well liked. Neighbors said that he was friendly and they would routinely help him out with food. Police are looking into surveillance footage in the area.

Firefighters have been battling a 4-alarm warehouse fire in Allentown since Sunday evening, 10/7. It started in an unoccupied warehouse around 6:30 p.m. at Franklin and Warren Streets. Heavy smoke and flames were pouring out of the windows and roof of the 4-story building and could be seen for miles. Nearby residents were told to shelter in place. Interior floors could be heard collapsing. One firefighter was injured and was taken to the hospital to be treated for a burned hand. The fire has been brought under control but there are still hotspots and lingering embers to be extinguished. The cause of the fire is not yet know. The building will have to be demolished.
