New Jersey Escaped Inmate Captured, Father Arrested; Woman Kidnapped from Walmart; Two NJ Shootings

New Jersey State Police say that an inmate that escaped from the custody of Cumberland County Department of Corrections officers at Cumberland County Jail on Friday morning, 8/10, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals at a bus terminal in Baltimore on Saturday, 8/11. 34-year-old David Riley had fled on foot without handcuffs wearing only a t-shirt and boxer shorts. Investigators determined that Riley's father, 58-year-old David Carty of Bridgeton, NJ, drove him to Baltimore and bought his son a bus ticket to Atlanta, GA. Carty was arrested at a motel in Vineland. He is charged with hindering apprehension, obstruction of justice, and aiding another in an escape. He is being held at the Cumberland County Jail awaiting a bail hearing. Riley is currently being held at the Baltimore City Detention Center awaiting extradition.

Philadelphia Police are investigating after a woman was abducted by two men from the parking lot of a Walmart in Northeast Philadelphia on Saturday evening, 8/11. It happened before 5 p.m. on the 9700 block of East Roosevelt Boulevard near Grant Ave. Two men wearing yellow construction vests forced the 43-year-old woman into her car at gunpoint. They drove all the way to Cheltenham Avenue and Saul Street in Frankford. The two suspects stole the woman's bank card and took off on foot. The woman was not hurt. The suspects are still at large.

There were two fatal shootings in New Jersey on Saturday, 8/11, where the victims were out front of homes. The first occurred early Saturday around 1:30 a.m on the 200 block of Walnut Street in Bridgeton, Cumberland County. 44-year-old Erica McNair was sitting on the front porch of her home when gunshots rang out. Two people were seen leaving the scene. Several shell casings were found. She was hit the head and died at Cooper Medical Center. No one else was injured. Later on Saturday night, a man was shot and killed in Woodbury, Gloucester County. It happened just after 11:30 p.m. on the unit block of East Centre Street. The 24-year-old man was shot in the head on the front lawn of a house. Neighbors heard a single gun shot and saw the victim. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect may have fled on foot. Investigators are looking for surveillance footage. If you have any information about either shooting contact police.
