Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy Retiring; Video of 4yo Hit By Car; Pilot Arrested in Cape May

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced that he is retiring. The 81-year-old was appointed by President Reagan and has served over 30 years on the bench. Kennedy was a conservative voice on the court, but also acted as the swing vote on several occasions siding with his liberal colleagues. His retirement is expected to take effect the end of July. President Trump will get to select his second nominee. Justice Neil Gorsuch was selected and confirmed last year. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says, "We will vote to confirm Justice Kennedy's successor this fall."

A 4-year-old boy was struck and injured in North Philadelphia on Tuesday night. It happened around 9:30 p.m. on the 2600 block of N. 16th Street. The boy was dribbling a basketball when it bounced into street. The boy chased after the ball and right into the path of an oncoming car. He is dragged for several feet. The boy's mother then rushed him to Temple University Hospital where he was transported to Saint Christopher's Hospital for Children. He is in stable condition. The 37-year-old female driver of the car that struck the boy left the scene after initially stopping. She drove herself to the police district and turned herself in. She is not expected to be charged in the incident.

The student pilot and mechanic who stole a banner plane from his work and landed it on a restricted beach has been arrested. 51-year-old James Dahlen Jr. turned himself in to authorities in Cape May on Wednesday, 6/27. He is being charged with criminal trespass, but could face more charges. On Sunday evening, Dahlen Jr. took the Piper PA12 plane from Paramount Air Services. He is the stepson of the owner. He was seen by beachgoers flying erratically before he landed on the Coast Guard beach and fled. Jeffrey H. Sutherland of Cape May County Prosecutorâ€™s Office says the investigation is ongoing. The Guard Investigate Service, along with the FBI, Department of Transportation Office of the Inspector General, and the Federal Aviation Administration are involved.
