New Unreleased Christina Grimmie Song; Haddonfield Lax Season Canceled; Toddler Death Still Mystery

The family of the late singer, Christina Grimmie, has posthumously released a previously unreleased song for Mother's Day. The song is titled 'Little Girl.' Christina began writing the song when she was 12 and later finished it after moving to California. It was a tribute to her mother, Tina Grimmie, created to comfort her during breast cancer treatment. Tina says she is "proud to share this extremely personal song with other mothers and daughters as well as Christina’s fans. It is very special to me and carries a part of not only Christina but our unique bond. I miss her daily and I take comfort in knowing that this song might help other mothers and daughters through their fearful or tough times." Christina is from Evesham Township, NJ. She rose to fame on NBC's The Voice. In 2016, at age 22, she was shot by an obsessed fan while signing autographs in Orlando, FL. It is available on all music channels. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Christina Grimmie Foundation, a charity formed to help families affected by gun violence or breast cancer.
School officials announced today that the remainder of the boys' lacrosse season at Haddonfield Memorial High School in South Jersey has been canceled following an alleged racial slur incident earlier this month. It happened on May 1st at Haddonfield High during a multi-school track meet. A group of white lacrosse players passed by a black female track athlete from Sterling High School in Somerdale. The track surrounds the lacrosse field. One of the boys allegedly used the N-word and told her to get off their track. Interim Haddonfield School District Superintendent David T. Lindenmuth issued a statement, "There is no room for hate of any kind at Haddonfield Schools and it will not be tolerated. It is not who we are and it does not represent our student body. The Haddonfield Board of Education’s Human Dignity Statement, which is posted in the classrooms of the High School, states that “each person has an inherent worth and has something to contribute. Diversity is a source of strength. Treating each other with respect and valuing differences eliminates prejudice, builds cooperation, and makes us a stronger community." The school reached out to the Camden County NAACP. Lloyd Henderson, president of the Camden County East NAACP said, "Haddonfield is an elite school system in South Jersey, if not, all of New Jersey. To hear it from that level is shocking." Diversity, sensitivity, and empathy training will be conducted for all students, staff, coaches and sports teams.
Camden County authorities continue to investigate the death of a toddler in Gloucester Township on Thursday, 5/10. Police were called to Marcia Court in Sicklerville, NJ around noon for an unresponsive 18-month-old boy. The mother awoke to find the boy not moving in his crib. She ran to the neighbors' asking for help to dial 911. They then performed CPR on the lawn until emergency responders arrived. The boy was pronounced dead a short time later. Since then, investigators have been in and out of the home, carrying out bags of evidence. A man staying at the home, described as a close family friend or a boyfriend, was not home when the boy was found. Police were able to find him and question him on Friday. An autopsy has been performed. The exact cause of death has not been released but it does not seem to be natural causes. No arrests have been made.
