Honk Leads to Shots in Road Rage; Teen Bros Arrested in Darby; No Charges/No Gun for Abington Man

Lower Southampton Police are looking for two suspects, driver and passenger, wanted in a road rage incident on Tuesday morning, 5/8, in Feasterville, Bucks County. It started around 11 a.m. at the intersection of Old Bristol Road and Bridgetown Pike. The victim honked his horn urging the car in front to make a turn at the light. The suspects' car then proceeded to travel very slow. The victim went around and they exchanged unpleasantries. Both cars were then going south on Bridgetown Pike. In the area of Prospect and East Myrtle avenues the passenger of the suspect car fired a shot at the victim, hitting the rear passenger-side door. The victim flagged down police. The victim said the driver was a woman and the passenger was a male. A picture of the vehicle was pulled from surveillance footage. Two teenage brothers have been arrested for shooting another teen boy at random in Darby Borough, Delaware County. 18-year-old James Benton Jr. and his younger brother, a juvenile, have been charged with attempted murder. It happened on Friday, 5/4, on the 200 block of North McDade Boulevard in Darby. The 17-year-old victim was shot four times. He has gone through two surgeries and is listed in critical but stable condition. The shooting was captured on surveillance video. Benton is seen shooting the victim once and then standing over him to fire three more times while he is on the ground. Authorities say that the two brothers are members of a local gang but have no connection with the victim They were arrested at home Tuesday morning, 5/8. The juvenile brother was even wearing an ankle monitor bracelet.

Abington Police say that a man recently seen walking around the township carrying an AR-15 rifle will not face any charges but will also not be getting his gun back soon. When the unidentified man first appeared in the neighborhoods last week, police reminded residents that Pennsylvania is an 'open carry' state and the man is within his rights. People were urged not to confront the man who could just be making some kind of 2nd Amendment statement. However, friends of the man contacted police with concerns he may want to harm himself or others. A search warrant found internet searches on his phone for things like, "what guns were used in mass shootings," "sandyhook," and "how many mass shooters have fatherless homes." He had also talked about killing himself or shooting up Abington High or Penn State Abington. That is part of the reason why the man was taken into custody on an involuntary mental health warrant and his weapons were seized. A state official will now determine if the man should be held for an additional 20 days. "We are confident that this weapon should not be, and will not be, returned at this time. Further, under the Mental Health Procedures Act and the Uniform Firearms Act, an individual who has been certified as requiring inpatient care may not possess or purchase firearms," said Chief Patrick Molloy with the Abington Township Police Department.
