Police have identified the suspect and victim in Thursday's, 5/3, fatal stabbing in a break room on the tarmac at Philadelphia International Airport. 35-year-old Kevin Emanuel is charged with Murder and Possession of an Instrument of Crime in the death of 28-year-old Aaron Jenkins. Both are from Philadelphia. They worked for Worldwide Flight Services and were contracted by Frontier Airlines to clean planes. It happened around 11 a.m. at Terminal E. An argument started over a light in the room. One man wanted it on and the other man wanted it off. Emanuel joined in the disagreement and stabbed Jenkins in the thigh. He was pronounced dead less than an hour later at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Airport police apprehended Emanuel. Airport operations were not affected.

Abington Township police say that they have taken a man into custody on an involuntary mental health warrant and seized his AR-15 rifle after friends became concerned about his behavior and change in mental status. The man in question had been seen walking around the township carrying the rifle starting last week. Police initially said they thought he was making a "passive-aggressive" statement about the 2nd Amendment and his right to carry in public and told people to avoid contact. After friends contacted police, they decided he posed a threat to himself or the community. He was taken into custody on Thursday, 5/3, and placed on a 72 hour hold. He was not arrested or charged.

Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill, who was released on bail last week pending an appeal on sentencing following parole violations last year, appeared at the Constitution Center on Thursday, 5/3, with prominent leaders and supporters including Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf, Rep. Dwight Evans and Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin. Mill, aka Robert Rihmeek Williams, is calling for criminal justice reform citing his recent 'traumatic experience' and a desire to help the 'voiceless men' that don't have the status or platform he does to call attention to their cases. "One thing is clear, we need to make our system fairer so that we are only sending those who belong in prison to our correctional institutions, so that we are not wasting time, we’re not wasting money, supervising those who simply don’t belong in prison," said Wolf. In November 2017, Mill was sentenced to 2-4 years in state prison for several violations of parole stemming from a 2009 drug and gun conviction. He was denied bail while waiting an appeal on that sentence, but the Pennsylvania Supreme court ordered his release last week. He has a hearing in June. In the meantime, the original conviction has come under question after allegations the arresting officer lied under oath during trial.
