Cousin Charged w/ Croydon Teen Murder; Car Crashes into House, Kills Woman; Hazmat Drug Norristown

The cousin of a 14-year-old Bucks County girl who was found stabbed multiple times and shot in the head has now been charged with murder. 20-year-old Colin Haag III is accused of killing 14-year-old Autumn Bartle last week in the home they shared in Croydon, Bristol Township. Bartle was found last Friday night when her parents arrived home. She was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital where she died on Monday. The district attorney's office said that she had been stabbed at least 80 times and fought to escape. Haag was found a few hours later walking along State Road in Bensalem. He tried to shoot himself in the neck as officers approached. Haag was charged earlier this week with stealing two of his uncle's handguns. He was arraigned on Friday on criminal homicide charges and is being held without bail. No word on a motive.

An elderly woman died after a car crashed into her home in Montgomery County last night. It happened just after midnight on the 300 block of Harleysville Pike near Godshall Road in Franconia Township. A 1995 Toyota had driven across the yard and crashed into the corner of the home. The 86-year-old was in a bedroom inside and was trapped. First responders worked to free the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. The 21-year-old driver remained at the scene. He was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries. No one else in the house was injuried. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed as of yet.

Emergency crews responded to a hazmat incident at a suspected methamphetamine lab in Norristown this morning. It started just before 9 a.m. on the 300 block of East Airy Street. Three apartments in the building were evacuated and the block was closed off as hazmat crews donned protective gear to search the second floor apartment. One man was found dead inside the apartment. No word on what may have caused his death or what else the authorities found in the building.
