The man accused of stabbing a Philadelphia city councilman outside of his home in Southwest Philadelphia last year has been acquitted by a jury. Councilman-at-large David Oh was stabbed last May as he was unloading the back of his vehicle during a botched robbery. Oh was stabbed in the left side and slashed on the right arm. 25-year-old Shawn Yarbray was identified by Oh as his attacker out of an array photos. The councilman also identified Yarbray in person as he spent two-and-a-half hours testifying about the ordeal in court this week. However, defense attorney Sam Stretton argued that this was a case of mistaken identity and reasonable doubt. Two witnesses testified that Yarbray was with them at the time of the attack. The jury deliberated for less than a day.

A Pennsylvania State trooper shot and killed a masked theft suspect who first fired at the trooper as the suspect fled through the parking lot of a Lehigh Valley Walmart late on Wednesday. It happened on Mill Creek Road in Lower Macungie, Lehigh County around 9 p.m. A loss prevention officer at the store noticed a man in his 20s, wearing a life-like silicon mask and wig, walking around the store and filling up his cart. The suspect matched the description of another robbery at a Walmart in Schuylkill County so the officer called police. When the trooper arrived he went to find the loss prevention officer but was seen by the suspect who left the cart and fled. The trooper told him to stop but he ran across the parking lot. When the suspect got to his vehicle, he turned around and fired at the trooper. The trooper returned fire, striking and killing the suspect. The suspect's name has not been released. The trooper has been placed on administrative duty per protocol.

Philadelphia Firefighters are battling a massive fire at a church in North Philadelphia near Temple University. About 70 people have been evacuated from student housing. The fire is on the 1500 block of North Broad Street at the The Original Apostolic Faith Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Roads around the fire are closed. Avoid the area if possible.
