Glocester County 10yo Arrested for Threats; Kenney Proposes 6% Increase; BucksCo Pawn Theft Ring

A 10-year-old Gloucester County boy was arrested after sending threatening e-mails to teachers and principals in multiple school districts early Thursday morning. A teacher and a principal both received emails threatening shootings at district schools on Thursday and Friday. School was closed in Franklin Township School District, Delsea Regional School District, and Elk Township schools as a result of the threats. Police subpoenaed the email provider and tracked the IP address to a home in Franklin Township. The 10-year-old boy admitted to sending the emails and was arrested and charged with making terroristic threats and causing false public alarm.

Philadelphia Mayor Kenney has asked City Council to approve a 6% property tax increase to fund Philadelphia's public schools. The school system is facing a nearly $1 billion deficit. The increase would mean an additional $95 annually for the average home worth of $113,000. Philadelphia takes back local control of the school district from the SRC in July.

Pennsylvania Attorney Josh Shapiro announced over two dozen arrests in a pawn shop theft ring in Bucks County. Michael Stein, owner of Levittown Quick Cash Trading Post and Morrisville Loan and Pawn, and four of his employees were arrested and charged with buying and selling $700,000 worth of stolen merchandise through the pawn shops. Also arrested were 27 'boosters' who would steal items from retail store like Walmart, Target, Home Depot and CVS and bring them to the shop to sell. Most of the boosters were just getting money to support a drug addiction. Shapiro said some of the items included the mundane like kitchen faucets, blenders, and vacuum cleaners. They are currently investigating other such rings in area.
