Police in State College, PA are investigating damage to a stone statue of Pennsylvania State University's nittany lion mascot. Authorities responded to the Nittany Lion Shrine, a popular photo spot on campus, around 4 a.m. Sunday to the reports of damage. They discovered the statue's right ear was broken off and found it nearby. They are trying to determine if it was intentional or accidental. Four persons-of-interest have been identified and tracked down by University police (see photo below). The investigation is ongoing. Officials did not say if the damage was in anyway connected to the State Patty's Day celebrations going on this past week. The unofficial holiday is marked by excessive drinking and partying.
Pennsylvania State Police have released new pictures of an unidentified woman found in a Delaware County state park over 2 years ago (see photos below). The woman's remains were found in January 2016 in a wooded area off of a trail in Ridley Creek State Park. She was dressed for cold weather and had three distinctive rings. A gold Irish Claddagh ring, a gold initial ring bearing the initial "C", and a gold diamond ring. The new pictures are forensic facial reconstruction images of her face. Investigators say she was a white female, 25-45 years of age, 5'2" to 5'10". Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers; phone 1-800-4-PA-TIPS or (800) 472-8477.
The Educating Nominating Panel voted on Monday and has recommended 27 candidates for the new Philadelphia Board of Education. Mayor Jim Kenney will appoint 9 board members from these 27 candidates. The nominating panel had to whittle down from a list of over 500 applications and nominations. Kenney has until March 18th to make his final choices. The new board takes over from the SRC after this school year.
Here are the 27 candidates: Sarah-Ashley Andrews, Jenne Ayers, Tonya Bah, Dario Bellot, Suzanne Biemiller, Laura Boyce, Julia Danzy, Susan DeJarnatt, Stacy Dutton, Leticia Egea-Hinton, Mallory Fix Lopez, Susanna Greenberg, Anuj Gupta, Rotonya Carr, Lee Huang, Renee Hughes, Loree Jones, Chad Lassiter, Maria McColgan, Chris McGinley, Angela McIver, Folasade Olanipekun-Lewis, Sharon Parker, Akil Parker, Roberta Trombetta, Patricia Wellenbach, Joyce Wilkerson |
