UD Man in Custody After Threatening Church; PA Turnpike Closed I-476 Accident; Double Home Invasion

Upper Darby Police now have in custody a man who threatened to kill his entire church congregation. 59-year-old Sherwood Hargrove of Drexel Hill turned himself in on Wednesday morning. He is charged with making terroristic threats. It happened on Monday at the Beulah Tabernacle church at 3400 State Road in the Drexel Hill section of Upper Darby Township. Hargrove was asked to leave during church services and shouted, "Y'all are going to die, and they told me how to do it," while being escorted out.

An accident involving several trucks has blocked all northbound lanes of the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-476) in Bucks County near mile marker 41. It happened after 10 a.m. between the Lansdale and Quakertown exits. Two tractor trailers and two box trucks are involved. 5 injuries are reported but their extent is not clear. State troopers have closed the highway at Lansdale exit 31. Drivers are being routed off to Route 63 east to Route 202 north to Route 309 north to Route 663 south to get back on the highway at the Quakertown Interchange Exit 44. Troopers are also working to get drivers stuck behind accident off the highway. The closure is expected to last for hours.

UPDATE: All lanes reopened by 2:30 p.m. Traffic is moving normally again.

Philadelphia Police are looking for a suspect wanted for two violent home invasions with shots fired and possible a hit-and-run early this morning in the city's Feltonville neighborhood. Police were called to the 200 block of Roosevelt Boulevard at 4 a.m. The suspect allegedly forced his way into a basement apartment and pistol whipped the male resident in his 50s. He demanded drugs or money and asked about another male who wasn't there. The victim was able to escape and run out of the apartment. The suspect followed and opened fire. Six shell casings were found. The male victim was not hit. The suspect then went back to the building and broke into the 2nd floor apartment where a 34-year-old woman was in bed. He pistol whipped her and also demanded drugs or money. He again asked about the missing man before fleeing. Police believe he is also responsible for damage to four parked cars around the corner on the 200 block of Loudon Street. Both of the victims were taken to Episcopal Hospital in stable condition. They were treated for minor injuries.
