The Philadelphia Zoo has announced that their 37-year-old female polar bear Coldilocks has died. The zoo decided to euthanize the animal due to a serious decline in her health. Colidlocks was the oldest polar bear in the country. She was born on December 13, 1980 at Seneca Park Zoo in Rochester, NY. Coldilocks arrived at Philadelphia Zoo on October 6, 1981. She well surpassed the typical polar bear lifespan of 23 years. You can make a donation to Polar Bear International in her honor at http://philadelphiazoo.org/PBIDonate. Place her name in the honor section and the address should be Philadelphia Zoo. For more information go to: http://philadelphiazoo.org/coldilocks

More than a dozen people were injured when a SEPTA bus collided with a tractor trailer in the city's Frankford section this morning. It happened around 5:30 a.m. at Frankford Avenue at Orthodox Street. The bus was traveling northbound on Frankford when it hit the tractor trailer as it was turning onto Frankford from Orthodox. 15 bus passengers were taken to Einstein Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The bus driver was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was not injured, but was shaken up. Philadelphia Police are investigating the accident.

The parent company of Acme announced a deal to buy Rite Aid pharmacies. Shareholders of Albertsons Companies, which also owns groceries like Safeway, Shaws, and Vons, would own over 70-percent of the combined company. Rite Aid Chairman and CEO John Standley will become CEO of the new company and Albertsons leader Bob Miller will serve as chairman. Albertsons is based in Boise, ID and Rite Aid is based in Camp Hill, PA. Both headquarters will remain. Albertsons will continue to operate Rite Aid's stand alone stores and will rebrand their in store pharmacies.
