Two Brothers Shot In W. Phila; Man Arrested For Stabbing; Woman Falls On SEPTA Tracks

Philadelphia Police are now investigating after two young brothers were shot while visiting the home of one of their girlfriends in West Philadelphia. The shooting took place on the 6000 block of Ludlow Street at around 7:45 pm. The 12-year-old victim was shot once in the left side of the neck and the 15-year-old was shot once in the right hand, once in the left arm, and once in the chest. Both of the victims were taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where they have been listed in stable condition. Police did not recover a weapon at the scene and so far no arrests have been made.

UPDATE: The victims were shot by pellets. The shooting apparently stemmed from an argument earlier in the day.

Police have arrested a man for the stabbing death of a woman that took place on Monday. 51-year-old James Bruce Puia has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 62-year-old Donna Marie Donato. Montgomery County officials responded to a call on the 200 block of the DeKalb Street Bridge in Bridgeport on Monday. Upon arrival they found Puia with blood on his face and hands. They found Donato by the northbound walkway of the bridge. The Montgomery County's coroner's office determined that Donato died from multiple stab wounds. Puia has been denied bail and has been scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 10 am on January 30th.

SEPTA officials stated that a woman fell off a train platform onto the tracks along the Broad Street Line on Tuesday. The incident happened on the northbound tracks of the Allegheny Avenue Station at around 4 pm. Officials say that the 35 year-old victim fell off the platform onto the tracks, but the train reportedly rolled over her without actually hitting her. The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital with serious injuries. The tracks had to be shut down for an investigation until 6 pm.
