April Kauffman's Husband Charged w/ Murder For Hire; 88yo Woman Dead in Bucks Co; Camden Teen Shot

The husband of a New Jersey radio host and veterans' advocate who was found dead in their South Jersey home over 5 years ago has been charged with her murder. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced on Tuesday that 69-year-old Dr. James Kauffman is being charged with murder for hire in the death of his wife 47-year-old April Kauffman along with conspiracy and racketeering for running a pill mill. April was found shot multiple times in the couple's home in May 2012 in Linwood, NJ. James was running a lucrative pill mill out of his doctor's office with the help of the Pagan Outlaw Motorcycle Gang. The couple was going through a divorce and April had threatened to expose the illegal business unless she received a favorable settlement. He decided to hire Frank Moholland, a Pagan member, to kill his wife to silence her instead. Moholland died of a drug overdose 18 months after April's murder. James Kauffman has been in jail since pulling a weapon on police in June 2017 when they arrived at his office with a search warrant. Several others have been charged in relation to the drug business.

Authorities responded around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning after the body of an elderly woman was discovered in Bucks County. The 88-year-old woman was found outside her home on the 1900 block of Potters Place near Freemans Lane in Holland. She was partially clothed and her shower was running. Investigators believe that the woman fell and died from exposure. They do not suspect foul play was involved. Overnight temperatures were in the 20's. The Bucks County coroner will perform an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. They do not know why she went outside. The victim has not been named pending family notification.

A teenager was shot and killed in Camden on Monday. Responding officers found the 17-year-old boy lying on the street around 1:20 p.m. Monday near South 29th and Clinton Streets. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital where he died a short time later. The investigation into the shooting continues. No arrests have been made.
