Three Killed In Burlington Police Chase; Gov. Wolf Vetoes Abortion Bill; Amtrak Train Derailment

Officials say that three people have been killed after a car crash occurred during a police chase in Burlington County on Monday. The crash happened at around 12 pm on Flyatt and Caranza Roads in front of Sequoia High School in Tabernacle Township. Officials say that the SUV crashed and wrapped around a utility pole. The vehicle was estimated to be going more than 80 mph. Police say that the SUV was reported stolen, which caused the chase. Two adult men and one teenage girl were inside of the car, all three died from the incident.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf vetoed a bill on Monday that was passed by Republican-controlled Legislature that would limit abortions to the first 20 weeks of pregnancy. Gov. Wolf signed the veto paperwork in a public ceremony at City Hall in Philadelphia. Pennsylvania's current limit for an abortion is 24-weeks, the proposed 20-week limit bill would have kept current exceptions under law including when a mother's life or well-being is at risk. The bill, however, did not include instances for rape, incest, or fetal abnormalities. The bill would have also made a change to dilation-and-evacuation procedures, the most common method for 2nd trimester abortions. The bill would not ban the practice; expect it demanded a change for the fetus to be injected by saline beforehand, to cause an instant death. Gov. Wolf commented on the bill saying it was "a disingenuous and bald-faced attempt to create the most extreme anti-choice legislation in the country."

At least 3 people have died and dozens were injured in an Amtrak train crash that derailed in Washington State early Monday morning. The train was on an inaugural commuter route, but ended up derailing off the tracks. All but one of the train's 14 cars went off the track, part of the train's cars went off an overpass into a heavy-trafficked highway and the others were scattered along the surrounding woods. The train was carrying around 84 passengers and crew-members. This was the first Amtrak train to carry commuters on this route. The route previously carried freight trains, but Amtrak announced they wanted to use the route for more daily commuter round trips between Seattle and Portland. The official cause of the crash is not known at this time. Amtrak officials stated the track was inspected and tested for weeks before commuter use.
