Shooting At Logan Gas Station; Woman Poses As Tutor; Gov. Wolf To Veto Abortion Bill

Philadelphia Police are now searching for a suspect who is wanted in connection with a shooting that took place in a Sunoco parking lot in the Logan section of Philadelphia on Monday night. Police arrived on the scene on Monday to find the 31-year-old victim with gunshot wounds to the head and chest. He was taken to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition. Officials say that the victim got into an altercation with another man after he had a confrontation with a female. During the altercation the suspect pulled out his gun and shot the victim multiple times. Police say that the victim was known to panhandle outside of the gas station, it is not known if this was the reason behind the shooting. An investigation continues.

Philadelphia school district officials say that a woman posing as a special needs tutor bilked the school out of tens of thousands of dollars. Federal prosecutors stated that Patricia Cleary received nearly $60,000 from the district for tutoring services that were never provided by her. Cleary used her maiden name Goldstein and submitted false teaching credentials as well as a fake tax form. Cleary tried to sue the district after they withheld her payment while trying to verify her credentials. Cleary has pleaded not guilty and was released on $10,000 bail.

The proposed abortion bill is now on its way to Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf's desk where officials say that he will veto it. The bill would shorten the time allowed for most abortions in Pennsylvania by 4 weeks and would stop the procedure known as dilation and extraction. Republican officials say that medical advancements have made fetuses viable and show that they can feel pain at earlier times during the pregnancy. The bill passed through the state house on Tuesday night, but officials say that Governor Wolf has already shown his opposition to the bill.
