Mass Shooting at Texas Church, 26 Dead; Details in Elkins Park Murder; Teen Killed in North Philly

26 people were killed and around 20 were injured when a gunman opened fire inside a church in South Texas during services on Sunday morning. It happened around 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Wilson County about 30 miles east of San Antonio. The shooter has been identified as 26-year-old Devin Patrick Kelley of suburban San Antonio. He opened fire outside as he entered the church dressed in all black tactical attire. He continued to fire on the congregation with an assault rifle after got inside. When he left the church, Kelley was confronted and then chased by a civilian with a gun. Authorities found him dead in his vehicle in neighboring Guadalupe County. It is not known if he was killed or took his own life. Texas Governor Greg Abbott said this is the deadliest mass shooting in the state's history. Freeman Martin with the Texas Department of Public Safety said those killed ranged in ages from 5 to 72. That includes the 14-year-old daughter of the pastor, however, pastor and his wife were not in town at the time. Sutherland Springs is a small, tight-knit community with fewer than 1,000 residents and just a few businesses, churches, and community centers. Kelley was dishonorably discharged from the Air Force in 2014. No word on a possible motive.

UPDATE: Officials now say the victims range in age from 18 months to 77 years. 14 of the victims were children. After leaving the church, Kelley was chased by two civilians. He eventually lost control and crashed his car. The civilians held him at gun point until police arrived a short time later. It is not clear, but at some point Kelley was killed by a self inflicted gunshot wound. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death. In a news conference Monday authorities said that Kelley was having domestic problems and sent threatening text messages to his mother-in-law Sunday morning. His in-laws are known to frequent that church but were not inside at the time of the shooting.

A 16-year-old boy was killed and a 12-year-old boy was injured after a gunman opened fire in North Philadelphia early Sunday morning. It happened around 12:15 a.m. Sunday on the 2700 block of North 19th Street. A group of friends were sitting on the porch when the suspect shot at the teens. 16-year-old Marquese Houston was shot twice in the neck and once in the neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The 12-year-old was hit in the leg. He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition. Police are looking for the suspect. He is described as 5' 6â€, thin build, wavy hair, 20's, wearing dark clothing. Â If you know anything, call police at 1-215-686-TIPS.

There are more details about the murder of an Elkins Park man at the hands of his brother. 60-year-old Jamison Bachman of Philadelphia is charged with first-degree and third-degree murder in the death of 64-year-old Harry Bachman. Harry had recently posted bail for his brother Jamison, but denied his requests to allow his brother to stay with him and his wife. Harry cited his brother's past arrests and history of violence as reasons to keep him out of their home. On Friday November 3rd, Harry was supposed to travel to meet his wife Caroline in Albany, NY. When he did not arrive, she called Cheltenham police to check on their home. Around 12:15 p.m. Saturday, the police met the couple's daughter at the home on the 400 block of North Sterling Road in Elkins Park with a key to let them in. Police found signs of a struggle, a broken plate, hole in the wall, along with a blood trail to the basement. Harry's body was found in the basement with blunt force trauma. The couple's red Ford Escape was missing from the driveway. Detectives found a charge on Harry's credit card for the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Willow Grove. The SUV was found in the parking lot and Jamison was arrested by SWAT in a room registered in Harry's name.
