16-year-old Shooting Suspect Surrenders; Catholic Schools Lockdown; DA Refiles Again Penn State Frat

A 16-year-old person-of-interest, now murder suspect, wanted in connection to the shooting deaths of two other teens in South Philadelphia earlier this week turned himself in to police on Friday evening. Brandon Olivieri was identified by police when they announced the arrest warrant on Friday afternoon. He walked into headquarters with his lawyer, Joe Lammendola, around 7 p.m. Overnight Friday, Olivieri's parent's home was shot up by an unknown shooter. No was injured. This began on Tuesday evening around 8:30 p.m., 16-year-old's Salvatore DiNubile and Caleer Miller were shot and killed during an argument on the street. Police have been working to identify all the various people involved.

Philadelphia Police investigated threats to two Archdiocesan Catholic high schools on Friday. Roman Catholic was placed on lockdown around 11:30 a.m. A threat was posted on social media saying that 16-year-old Brandon Olivieri, the suspect in the South Philadelphia shooting, was in the area of the school. Police investigated and found the threat unfounded. Parents were notified of the "general threats against the safety of the school community on social media." Parent's came to pick up their children early. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School was also placed on lockdown on Friday due to "general threats." The school already had an early dismissal scheduled.

Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller has refiled most of the charges against members of Penn State's now closed Beta Theta Pi fraternity. In September, following an exhaustive 7-day preliminary hearing, a judge threw out the most serious charges including involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault among others. 18 members were charged in the death of 19-year-old Timothy Piazza following a pledge ceremony. He died of a fractured skull, damaged spleen, and other injuries from falling multiple times after drinking a dangerous amount. Prosecutors refiled charges against 11 men, that includes the most serious charges against 8 of them that had been thrown out. No new charges were filed against two that waived the preliminary hearing, four that had all charges dropped, or one defendant already with multiple counts of furnishing alcohol.
