Shots in South Philly at Person of Interest Home; Philly Free Streets Returns Tom.; Bus Crash 2 Inj.

Gunfire that rang out early Friday morning in South Philadelphia is connected to the murder of two teen boys earlier this week. Over a dozen shots were fired at a home near 16th and Juniper Streets at around 1:30 a.m. this morning. Police Commissioner Richard Ross says that it is the home of a person-of-interest in the case. Multiple bullet holes could be seen in the front of the house and windows. No one was injured. Ross, speaking about the person-of-interest, said, "They know who they are and so I just strongly urge them, and if their parents do know where they are, to bring them down so that we can talk to them." This started on Tuesday when 16-year-olds Caleer Miller and Salvatore DiNubile were shot and killed during an argument. No arrests have been made.

UPDATE: Authorities have identified the person-of-interest as 16-year-old Brandon Olivieri.

The second annual Philly Free Streets is tomorrow, Saturday, October 28th from 8am - 1pm. The event was inspired during the visit of Pope Francis in 2015 when a large portion of Center City was blocked off to vehicle traffic. People came outside, rode bikes, walked, played games, and enjoyed the wide open areas car-free. Last year, South Street was closed river to river. This year portions of 3rd, 4th, and 5th streets will be closed from Chestnut St. north to Indiana Ave. covering a 3.5 mile stretch. On one end is Old City and the other end is El Centro de Oro in the heart of the Latino community. There will be no parking along the route starting on Friday at noon. Two people were injured when a school bus collided with a parked tractor-trailer and a car in Southwest Philadelphia this morning. It happened at 6:30 a.m. near 61st Street and Passyunk Avenue. The school bus, which was not carrying students at the time, hit the truck and car. The 52-year-old bus driver and a 55-year-old woman in the car were both taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Police are investigating the cause of crash.
