Philadelphia Police are now searching for a teenager who violently attacked an innocent man. The incident took place back on September 2nd on Broad Street in South Philadelphia. The victim of the attack stated that at around 10:45 pm the suspect threw a pretzel at his parked car, hitting the window. The victim then approached the teens who were standing at a 7-Eleven across from his parked car. After a brief exchange of words, the teen swung and hit the victim knocking him to the ground. He had to be taken to the hospital, because he suffered a shattered jaw from the punch, requiring him to get wires, screws and metal plates in his jaw. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact Philadelphia Police.

Philadelphia officials have now decided to close down the Vare Recreation center for the foreseeable future. Officials have stated that the 100-year-old building can not be used and operated in the condition it is in now. A structural engineer was brought in by the city, saying that the building is structurally not safe for occupancy and is in need of serious repairs. Many residents are disappointed by the news because the Vare has been a place for many in the community to enjoy different activities for years. Mayor Jim Kenny and his administration have stated that closing of Vare is part of his 'Rebuild Initiative' which will hopefully one day be able to help rebuild the Vare. For now though, the outdoor spaces at Vare Recreation will remain open including the playgrounds and ball fields.

The New Jersey attorney general's office announced on Tuesday that 15 suspects been have now been indicted after a drug ring was raided in Salem, NJ. The leader, 34-year-old Fernando Diaz Riviera, is stated to have two homes, one in Salem and one in Mexico, were the distribution of drugs occurred. Another suspect, 43-year-old Philadelphia-native Luis Merced, was indicted as well. Merced is said to be Riviera's right hand man. Around 9 kilos of cocaine was seized in the investigation, with an estimated street value of $2 million. Officials say that the group distributed nearly 20 to 30 kilos of cocaine and heroin per month to Camden and North Philadelphia and has ties to Mexican drug suppliers.
