Woman Charged in Bucks Pharma Murder; 6-year-old Boy Shot Philly; Woman Shot Boyfriend in Fishtown

A 33-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of a Bucks County pharmaceutical executive in his home back in August. Jennifer Morrissey is charged with murder, burglary, tampering with evidence, and other offenses in the death of 64-year-old Michael McNew in Washington Crossing. McNew was discovered on August 8th in his home along the Delaware River in a chair with a single gunshot wound to his head. Morrissey had lived with McNew in the home since January 2015, but the pair apparently had a falling out and she was no longer welcome. Police say that Morrissey returned to the scene and staged it to look like a robbery. She also deleted text messages from that night that were recovered by police. They read: "Get the gun ready, because I'm coming. I already told you that I'll be there tonight. Guess you're just gonna have to shoot me." "You have a choice: touch my stuff or I cut your throat." "I'm gonna stab you. I'll gut you like I'm field dressing a (expletive) deer." Morrissey is currently being held without bail in Bucks County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 16th.

Philadelphia Police are investigating after a 6-year-old boy was shot in North Philadelphia on Friday evening. It happened on the 2300 block of W. Norris St. around 7:50 p.m. The boy was struck in his left shoulder. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital by police in stable condition. No arrests have been made.

A Center City real estate agent has been charged with murdering her boyfriend at her Fishtown apartment. It happened Wednesday morning at the Chandler Apartment Building on the 1000 block of East Montgomery Avenue around 3 a.m. 37-year-old Jeanette B. Wakefield is accused of shooting her boyfriend, 33-year-old Terry Corrigan IV, in the hallway outside her apartment. An argument over a broken table somehow escalated to the fatal shot. Wakefield had a permit to carry and was encouraged to obtain the weapon by Corrigan because of her job. Her two children, 9 and 10, were in the apartment at the time. She last worked out of the Coldwell Banker Center City office in July. She is being held at the Riverside Correctional Facility on State Road. A preliminary hearing is set for October 18th.
