Deadly Robbery In Spring Garden; Croc Rock To Be Knocked Down; Reward For Missing South Jersey Man

Philadelphia Police are investigating a deadly robbery that took place in the Spring Garden section of Philadelphia. The incident happened on the 1500 block of Melon Street at around 8:05 pm. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the face. He was shot in front of his 2-year-old daughter. The victim was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital where he later passed away. Police say that they are not sure if the suspects knew the victim, but they do believe he was the intended target in the robbery. The victim's name has not yet been released, and so far there have been no arrests.

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Gerard Grandzol.

The well known Crocodile Rock venue in Allentown is now facing demolition next week. Officials say that the venue will be knocked down after City Center Investment Corp bought them out for $1.6 million on Tuesday. The space will be used to build a six-story residential and office building. Officials say that the venue saw a drop in business after they lost their liquor license in 2013 and the former owner Joe Clark closed the building back in 2015. Officials say that construction will last around a year and residents will be able to move in by fall of 2018.

A $5,000 reward is now being offered for any information regarding a missing South Jersey man. 28-year-old David Gipson Smith was reported missing after he did not come home or show up at work after he was visiting a friend in Maryland. Family of Smith says that he was dropped off on the 2000 block of Woodbine Road and has not been seen since then. The family stated that it was unusual for Smith to be out of contact for so long. Officials have searched the area and local hospitals but still have not found him. He is described as a white male, 6' 4" and 230 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to contact Howard County Police (410-313-STOP).
