8 people were injured when a vehicle crashed through a crowd of people at a Labor Day block party in South Philadelphia on Monday afternoon. It happened around 4 p.m. on the 1500 block of Ringgold Street in Point Breeze. The female driver went around the barricade that blocked off the street and then drove her SUV down the block. All of those hit suffered non life-threatening injuries but they did include several elderly women and a pregnant woman. They were all taken to area hospitals. The driver remained at the scene and said that her brakes failed. Police have taken her into custody and charged her with driving under the influence.

Four people, including two firefighters, were injured in a fire this morning at an apartment building in Clifton Heights, Delaware County. The fire started around 8:30 a.m. in the C-building of the Cliff Park Apartment complex in the 300 block of North Sycamore Avenue. Firefighters arrived to find thick smoke and fire coming from the top floor. Two children were dropped to safety from a window to rescuers below. Two women, a teenager and an adult, also jumped to safety from a window. They were taken to the hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries. Two firefighters also sustained minor injuries. Officials say that the fire started with a 5-year-old playing with a lighter.

The Wayne County coroner's office has released the cause of death for the missing Temple University student found on Saturday. An autopsy shows that 22-year-old Jenna Burleigh died from a combination of Blunt Force Trauma and Strangulation. Burleigh was last seen leaving a bar near Temple's campus early on Thursday morning. 29-year-old Joshua Hupperterz has been arrested and charged with her murder along with other offenses after her body was found on his family's property in Paupack Township, Wayne County on Saturday. Police believe that she was killed in a home on the 1700 block of North 16th Street. She was then transported to a home in Jenkintown before being taken to Northeast Pennsylvania. Officials believe that Hupperterz placed her body in a plastic container and may have used ride sharing service Lyft, or at least a vehicle with a Lyft sticker, to move the body. Police are not ruling out filing charges on additional persons.
