Missing Temple Student Found Murdered; Major Drug Bust; Teen Hit By Train in Malvern

Philadelphia Police have charged a man with the murder of a Temple University student that went missing on Thursday night. 29-year-old Joshua Hupperterz is in custody and has been charged in the death of 22-year-old Jenna Burleigh. Burleigh was reported missing on Thursday. She was last seen around 2 a.m. leaving Pub Webb near 16th and Cecil B. Moore. Hupperterz, a former student, and Burleigh had met for the first time at the bar. Police believe that she was killed at a home on the 1700 block of North 16th Street. Her body was then moved first to a home in Jenkintown and then to Paupack Township in Wayne County. A body believed to be Burleigh's was discovered on lakefront property owned by Hupperterz's grandmother in Wayne County on Saturday. The circumstances and cause of death have yet to be determined. Burleigh, of Harleysville, was a junior transfer student from Montgomery County Community College majoring in film and media arts. This was her first week at Temple.

UPDATE: The Wayne County coroner has determined the cause of death to be a combination of blunt force trauma and strangulation. In addition to murder, Hupperterz in charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, possession of an instrument of crime, and drug offenses.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro said in a statement on Saturday that the Friday raid on a drug packaging operation in the Summerdale section of Philadelphia found 30,000 - 40,000 bags of suspected heroin along with 3 - 4 kilograms of unbagged narcotics. The street value of the drugs is worth approximately $1.5 million. Nine men were arrested at the house. He said, "This was a major, and I want to stress major, drug operation in the city of Philadelphia." Four officers and one agent had to be treated for exposure to the drug dust. They were given Narcan and are recovering. The house has now been sealed.

A 16-year-old was struck by a train in Chester County on Saturday. It happened near the Malvern Station near King and Warren streets around 1 p.m. The victim and friends were headed to the Made in America Festival in Philadelphia. No word on the circumstances of the accident or the condition of the teenager.
