Somerdale Tire Slasher Arrested; Arson at Fishtown Condo Development; Teacher Arrested Sex w Student

Police in Camden County, NJ, have arrested a man wanted for slashing the tires of multiple emergency vehicles outside the Police and Municipal building in Somerdale on Sunday. 51-year-old Edward Holmes III was charged with multiple counts of criminal mischief, unlawful possession of a weapon, and related charges. Police received an anonymous tip that Holmes was at a restaurant in Camden Tuesday evening. He was arrested without incident. It started early Sunday morning around 1:30 a.m. Surveillance cameras captured Holmes slashing tires in the lot. 52 tires in total on 13 different cars. 9 patrol cars, a fire marshal vehicle, and 3 personal vehicles of officers were targeted. Police say the damage is estimated at $9,000. Camden County police recognized Holmes who came into the station earlier that night to report his bicycle was stolen.

Police and firefighters are investigating an attempted arson at a construction site in Fishtown overnight Tuesday. Security cameras caught someone trying to set fire to the new condo units on the 1800 block of Frankford Avenue around 7:30 a.m. Police were called and the fire was put out by 8:30 a.m. There was only minimal damage. This development project is run by Ori Feibush's OCF Realty. He is no stranger to arson. Back in May, someone set fire to another development project in Point Breeze which completely destroyed 4 under construction town homes. There is a $100,000 reward in that case. His company and projects have also be the victims of vandalism in the past. His fiercest opponents have been vocal against any gentrification that new development brings to the neighborhoods, but that doesn't mean any of them would be reckless enough to start fires.

A former Chester County teacher previously accused of having inappropriate contact with a student is now alleged to have had a sexual relationship with the teen. 38-year-old Melissa Bonkonski was a science teacher and softball coach at Owen J. Roberts High School. Bonkonski would communicate with the 16-year-old using a "burner" phone. She would pick him up from his job and they would "make out" in her car. Eventually she convinced him to come back to her home where they had sex. The teen tried to call things off but Bonkonski kept texting him. The investigation began when the victim's girlfriend discovered the texts from the teacher on his phone. Bonkonski resigned from the school earlier this month.
