Women Dressed As Nuns Robbery Attempt; Trooper At Fault Crash; TD Employee Fired For Stealing Money

Two armed women dressed as nuns tried to rob a bank in the Poconos on Monday. Police say that the attempted robbery took place at the Citizens Bank near Tannersville. Authorities say that the two women showed the teller a handgun, but police believe that another employee was able to activate the automatic alarm which scared the two women off. The FBI is now currently investigating the situation.

Pennsylvania State Police have now stated that a trooper, who was killed when his cruiser crashed into a garbage truck this past July, was at fault for the wreck. Police say that the cruiser's speed was a factor in the crash, as well as wet roads and fog, which caused 26-year-old Trooper Michael Stuart to crash, killing himself and injuring his partner Trooper Travis November. The crashed happened back on July 14th on Route 711 in Ligonier Township. Police say that garbage truck pulled out onto the highway from a parking lot. This is when Stewart crashed into the truck. Police say that no one will be cited or charged in the crash.

A Philadelphia TD Bank employee has been fired and arrested after the employee is accused of stealing cash donations that were meant for the Philadelphia Archdiocese. The employee reportedly stole the money from two annual direct mail campaigns for the Catholic Charities and Seminary Appeal. The crimes took place between December 2016 and July 2017. Officials say that there were nearly 400,000 households on the mailing list. Police believe that the amount stolen was anywhere between $500 to $75,000. The name of the employee has yet to be released.
