Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney is asking for the public's input on the statue of former mayor and police commissioner Frank Rizzo. Kenney had said he would leave the decision to the Arts Commission but would need to send them a proposal with a specific request. The office of the mayor has set up a web page for all Philadelphians to submit their ideas on whether to keep it, remove it, or relocate it somewhere. You can find the Call for Ideas page https://beta.phila.gov/departments/mayor/call-for-ideas-rizzo-statue/. Deadline is September 15th. You can also mail your ideas here:

Philadelphia Police are asking the public's help in identifying vandalism suspects wanted for throwing explosives into a restaurant. They were caught on video surveillance. The incident happened on August 12th around 5:30 p.m. on the 500 block of Washington Avenue. One of the suspects was seen lighting and throwing an explosive device into the New Dragon City restaurant where it exploded. The group then ran away. If you have any information call South Detective Division at 215-686-3013/3014.

The three-day NFL Draft held in Philadelphia this past April had an economic impact of $95 million for the local economy. That is according to a new report commissioned by the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau and conducted by the Temple University Sports Industry Research Center. $56.1 million was in direct spending by visitors in hotels, restaurants, retail stores, etc. The NFL Draft Experience was held on the Art Museum steps and down the Ben Franklin Parkway. The survey showed that were attendees from 42 different states and 250,000 attendees in total. Philadelphia hopes to bring the draft back for 2018 but there are bids from other cities. A decision from the NFL is expected soon.
