Police have now arrested a man who was wanted for carjacking and armed robbery, as well as leading police on a chase Sunday afternoon. The suspect, Marquan Pitts, was said to have carjacked a SEPTA employee in the Spring Garden section at around 4 am. Hours later, the man committed a robbery in South Jersey, which then led to an on and off police chase that lasted around 12 hours before the suspect crashed his car at around 2 pm in South Philadelphia. Pitts now faces many charges.

City Officials begin work on Monday to build Philadelphia's first parking-protected bike lane. The construction of the new lane will be on Chestnut Street between 45th and 34th Streets. The plan is to add a bike lane that is separated from the traffic lanes. The northernmost lane will be the bike lane, which is protected by plastic posts, then an unused lane, a parking lane, two traffic lanes and then another parking lane. City officials are also thinking about putting protected bike lanes on South and Lombard Streets. The work is expected to take around three weeks to finish.

Former Philadelphia Phillies catcher Darren "Dutch" Daulton passed away on Sunday night. The 55-year-old former Phillies catcher was pronounced dead Sunday night after a 4-year battle with brain cancer. Daulton was drafted by the Phillies in the June draft of 1980, he was picked in the 25th round. He then went on to be a 3-time All Star player who played with the Phillies for 14 seasons. Daulton held a record for 143 starts in the 1993 season and played a significant role in the Phillies National League pennant victory in 1993. In July of 2013, Daulton underwent surgery for two brain tumors. He later established The Darren Daulton Foundation, which raises funds for brain cancer research. Funeral arrangements have been set, but will be private. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to The Darren Daulton Foundation.
