| Pete Rose Out of Phillies Alumni Weekend; Husband Charged w/ Wife's Murder; Lyft Abduction Robbery |

The Philadelphia Phillies have announced that Pete Rose will not be honored in Alumni Weekend events next weekend Aug. 10 through Aug. 13 at Citizen's Bank Park "due to recent events." The team will not be distributing bobblehead figurines on Friday, August 11th and Rose will not be inducted into the Wall of Fame on Saturday, August 12th. Phillies alumni will still return and be honored in a pre-game ceremony on Sunday, August 13th and fans will receive a Wall of Fame card pack. Rose said, "While I am truly honored that the Phillies fans voted for me to be this year's Wall of Fame inductee, I am concerned that other matters will overshadow the goodwill associated with Alumni Weekend, and I agree with the decision not to participate." Recently, it was revealed that Rose had a sexual relationship with a young girl while he played in Cincinnati in the 1970's. Rose acknowledged he had the relationship with the girl for several years (while he was in his mid 30's and married with 2 children) but he believed it began when she was 16 or the legal age in OH. The woman claimed in a sworn statement filed earlier this week that it started before she was 16 which would amount to statutory rape, although the statue of limitations has expired to bring any charges. The motion was filed as part of a defamation lawsuit. The Phillies are offering refunds or exchanges for fans with tickets to the Friday and Saturday games. Also, other events involving Rose, including a sports roast next Thursday, have also been canceled.
Authorities in Gloucester County, NJ, have announced murder charges against the husband of a woman who was found dead in her pool in June. 51-year-old Norman Long has been charged with murder, concealing evidence, and obstruction in the death of 47-year-old Michelle Long. Michelle was found dead in the backyard pool of their home on Forrest Court in Woolwich Township. An autopsy determined she died from blunt force trauma to the head and neck. Gloucester County District Attorney Sean Daulton said, "Our investigation determined that Mr. Long killed his wife inside their home and placed her fully-clothed body in their backyard swimming pool. He subsequently drove to a local restaurant and upon his return pretended to discover her body in a pool and advised first responders that she drowned." Long was taken to Anne Klein Forensic Center in Trenton for a psychiatric evaluation.
A Havertown woman has been found safe and unharmed after she disappeared early this morning while taking a ride-sharing service home with her sister. Police are now searching for the driver and investigating the alleged abduction and robbery. 31-year-old Brittney Lough and her 21-year-old sister were out in Philadelphia celebrating a birthday on Tuesday night. At around 4 a.m., they used ride-sharing service Lyft to pick them up from the 1200 block of St. James Street in Center City to take them back home to Havertown. Along the way, the driver asked if he could stop. He pulled into the Sunoco at 8203 West Chester Pike in Upper Darby. He had the 21-year-old go inside and get him something, but when she came back outside, the car with her sister was gone. The driver took Brittney to the 100 block of Champlost Road in Olney. He took her money, credit cards, and phone before forcing her out of the car. She was able to call police from a nearby store and was found around 10 a.m. unharmed. The drive is described as a black male, 25 – 30 years, with an accent. He was driving a black, four-door car, possibly a Nissan.
