Man Robbed Philadelphia Mosque Twice; NJ Beaches Reopen; 89yo Woman Hit By Car

Philadelphia Police are asking the public's help in identifying a man wanted for burglarizing a mosque. The same man was caught on surveillance cameras twice breaking into the Islamic Society of Greater Philadelphia Mosque at 7252 Roosevelt Boulevard in the Northeast. On both July 12th and July 17th, the unknown black male forced open the back doors. Once inside he stole money from collection boxes and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. Beaches in New Jersey have been reopened after many were closed earlier this week due to elevated bacteria levels in the water. On Monday, 34 beaches were closed or had received advisories from the State Department of Environmental Protection. On Wednesday, that number was 19, with most of the beaches in Atlantic City and Ventnor. Readings are taken daily and officials monitor the levels to make sure it is safe to venture into the ocean. An 89-year-old woman is in critical condition after being hit by a car in the Bustleton section of Philadelphia Thursday afternoon. It happened just after 2 p.m. near the intersection of Grant Avenue and Krewstown Road. A 62-year-old woman lost control of her Toyota while traveling east on Grant. She then hit two other cars traveling the same direction before continuing up onto the sidewalk and striking the elderly woman. She was taken to Aria Health Torresdale in critical condition with injuries to her for leg, arm, and torso as well as internal injuries. The driver remained at the scene. It is unknown why the driver lost control. Police are investigating.
