A Montgomery County man is now in custody for allegedly supplying drugs to a woman while she was in the hospital that ultimately led to her overdose death. On May 6th, 30-year-old Ciara Hadrick was found unresponsive on the bathroom floor of her room at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery on West Germantown Pike in East Norriton. Empty baggies and a needle with white powder residue was found by her side. Investigators discovered text messages between Hadrick and 29-year-old Travis Siuta of East Norriton arranging several drug transactions. Siuta can be seen on hospital security footage coming to visit Hadrick to drop off drugs 5 times. The residue tested positive for fentanyl, an opioid much stronger than heroin. The autopsy also confirmed that Hadrick died from fentanyl overdose. Siuta is charged with drug delivery resulting in death, possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication facility, recklessly endangering another person and possession of a controlled substance. He is being held without bail at Montgomery County Correctional Facility.

Two Philadelphia Police officers and a civilian were injured in a crash involving a police cruiser. It happened just before 9 p.m. near Upsal St. and Stenton Ave. in Mount Airy. The police cruiser was responding to a call of a person with a gun when it slammed into the back of another car. The two officers in the patrol car and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to Einstein Medical Center for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. The accident is currently under investigation.

Several New Jersey beaches have been closed this week and many more have received water quality advisories due to elevated bacteria levels. On Monday, 34 beaches were either closed or had been given notice. Wednesday's readings closed 15 beaches with 4 more receiving advisories, many of them in Atlantic City and Ventnor. The State Department of Environmental Protection takes the daily reading and issues the warnings. The recent heavy rains and runoff is to blame for the outbreak. You can keep up to date on the readings and if your beach is open or closed at: https://njbeaches.org/
