SEPTA Spider Problem; Flood/Winds Damage Philly Area; Robberies On Schuylkill River Trail

SEPTA officials are now dealing with a spider problem in and around the Spring Garden El Station in Northern Liberites. Officials say that the spiders have been dropping down out of the light fixtures onto waiting passengers, some even as big as 2-3 inches. SEPTA is very concerned about this problem and have taken action. Officials say that they had an exterminator come in and spray the area, as well as cleaning the light fixtures to get rid of the spiders.

A fierce storm that ran through the Philadelphia area and the surrounding suburbs caused some damage from flooding. Reports came in that a large tree was knocked down by the wind which caused an electric fire. The roadway had to be shut down, but luckily there were no injuries in the fire. A man had to be rescued in Chester after a flash flood dragged his car away. Luckily, the man was able to get out of his car, but had to be rescued by crews once out of his car. Many more trees and flash flooding occurred in the area, but no one was severely injured.

Police are now investigating after multiple people have been robbed on the Schuylkill River Trail. Police say that two people have been robbed in the past couple days. That has caused in an increase in security. Last week, near Race Street, a group of teens forced a rider off of their bike and stole it. Then this past weekend, near 25th and Locust Streets, two teens jumped a jogger and got away with his phone. Officials say that they will be soon installing security cameras along the trail to help find the suspects and prevent future assaults.
