Boy Loses Leg After Being Hit By Train; Armed Man Shot By Police; Mother Charged In Death Of Child

A 13-year-old boy is now in critical condition after severely injuring his leg when trying to jump onto a train. The incident happened just after 5 pm in North Philadelphia on Wednesday. Police say the boy was trying to jump onto a moving CSX train on the Conrail tracks. The boy was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where he later had to have his leg amputated due to the severe leg injury. The SEPTA Trenton line had to be shut down both ways until 6:30 pm to conduct an investigation.

A man was taken to the hospital on Wednesday night after being injured in a police shooting in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. The shooting took place at around 7:30 pm on the 400 block of East Somerset Street. Police officers responded to the scene with reports of an armed suspect at the Somerset Station. Police say that the suspect pointed his gun at the officers, who then opened fire on the suspect. The man was then apprehended and rushed to Temple University Hospital where he is listed in stable condition. Police say that the man was responsible for a shooting that took place two blocks away where a woman had been shot and left in a house.

A Camden mother has now been arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of her child, after her child was pronounced dead on Tuesday. Police say that 4-year-old Natalie Gunter was rushed to Cooper University Hospital on Tuesday morning after she was found unresponsive in her family's home. She was found inside of the home with severe injuries to her face, and a short time after arriving at the hospital she was pronounced dead. The two adults who live in the home have been questioned by police, and the mother, 20-year old Lucy Gunter is accused of not seeking medical attention. Police are treating this case as a homicide, but so far no one has been charged with murder.
