Fmr 76er Doug Overton Pleads Guilty; Worker Falls in Water Tower; Police Standoff Ends in Germantown

Former Philadelphia 76ers and LaSalle University basketball player Doug Overton pled guilty today to three counts of disorderly conduct. Back in April, Overton was arrested after being accused of exposing himself on the Cynwyd Heritage Trail in Lower Merion. Police received several calls about a man exposing himself along the trail. He was sentenced to one year of probation and agreed to a psychological sexual evaluation. 47-year-old Overton attended high school at Dobbins Tech. He is in the Big 5 Hall of Fame for his standout years at LaSalle. He played in the NBA for 11 seasons on 8 different teams including two stints with the Sixers. He is currently the head coach at Lincoln University.

A maintenance worker is in serious condition after falling inside a water tower in New Castle County, Delaware this morning. It happened at the Dupont Granogue Estate in the 2000 block of Montchanin Road in Talleyville. New Castle County EMS, Wilmington Fire Department, Talleyville Fire Company, High Angle Confined Space and Rescue, and Delaware State Police all responded. The 59-year-old woman had to be airlifted by helicopter off the tower to an ambulance waiting on the ground. She suffered injuries to her head, arm, neck, and back. The worker was taken to Wilmington Hospital.

An intense police standoff ended early Wednesday morning in Germantown when a murder suspect turned the gun on himself. The 32-year-old man shot and killed himself inside a home on 1300 block of Haines Street around 1:33 a.m. after a seven hour standoff. It all started over 12 hours earlier on the 1200 block of Sanger Street in Frankford. Around 1 p.m., 25-year-old Michelle Saint-Aude was shot several times and killed outside her home after an argument. The suspect fled on foot and then by car. Police were able to follow for a while until he crashed the car and escaped on foot. The suspect was her ex-boyfriend. Around 6:30 p.m., authorities received tips that he was on Haines Street. The suspect fired at police several times, from the roof and from inside the home. Officers entered the home after hearing a muffled shot from inside around 1:30 a.m. only to find the suspect dead.
