A woman and several animals were killed in a fatal car crash that took place at the Brandywine Valley SPCA Center in New Castle, Delaware. The crash happened at around 12:15 pm Sunday on the 800 block of South Street in New Castle. Officials have stated that the driver, 33-year-old Latoya Cooper, lost control of her car and crashed into the building which then caused a fire. Emergency crews arrived quickly on the scene and were able to save about 100 animals from the fire. Unfortunately a couple of the animals in the building died in the fire and some from injuries sustained in the blaze. The driver of the car also died in the crash. The SPCA center will now be closed until further notice to begin the clean up and restoration of the building.

SEPTA officials are now notifying travelers that changes will be coming to the SEPTA train lines in the city. Starting on Monday, passengers who take trains from Temple, Jefferson, Suburban, 30th Street and University City stations will have to have their tickets checked and punched by Fare Collection Personnel before boarding the train. This will require passengers to have pre-paid tickets or passes before getting on the train. The punched ticket then needs to be shown to the conductor of the train to be collected. SEPTA stated that Fare Collection Personnel will be located on the stairways to the train platforms.

Philadelphia Police are investigating after a man was shot in the Kensington section of Philadelphia on Sunday. The shooting took place at the intersection of Jasper and East Atlantic at around 4 pm on Sunday. The 21-year-old victim was shot as he was riding his bike, once responders arrived on the scene the man was taken to Temple University Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. Police say the victim was gunned down in front of children who were playing in a kiddie pool. Luckily, none of the children were injured. Police are now searching for the suspect or suspects responsible.
