Repo Shooting in Point Breeze, Man Dead; 5 Charged Fireworks Arson; Kids Save Parents From Overdose

A car repossession turned fatal as a confrontation between car owner and repo man escalated to gun shots this morning in Point Breeze. It happened at 18th and Dickinson Streets around 10:30 a.m. when a tow truck driver was attempting to repossess a Toyota minivan. The female owner of the vehicle called her male friend to the scene. He arrived with a gun and got into a physical altercation with the repo man, pistol whipping the driver. The truck driver told police he heard glass shattering and thought it was gun shots. He pulled out his own weapon and shot the male friend in the chest and arm. That man was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A dog was also shot and killed in the crossfire. The repo man has been brought in for questioning. There have not been any arrests or charges at this time.

Five people have been charged in an arson started by fireworks in Falls Township, Bucks County earlier this month. It happened around midnight on June 3rd on the 500 block of Stevens Road. 23-year-old Abraham Keita of Morrisville and four teenagers ages 12-16 had just stolen fireworks from a food market. They started to set off some of the fireworks as they walked home. Keita threw a lit firework onto the carport of Lisa Nollie's house. It quickly went up in flames. A neighbor raced into the home and helped Nollie escape with her dog. Keita is charged with arson and related offenses. The teens will be charged as juveniles.

An Upper Darby, Delaware County couple's young children are credited with saving their lives from overdose after calling out for help. It happened on Wednesday night. The 4-year-old and 1-year-old boys starting yelling out the 2nd floor window of their home that their parents were locked in a bathroom and wouldn't come out. A neighbor across the alley, Kendra Outen, heard the children and called police. 32-year-old Sean Dolhancryk and 31-year-old Sandra Dicianno were found unresponsive. Medics administered Narcan and were able to revive the couple from a heroin overdose. The parents have been charged with drug possession and child endangerment. The children have been placed with relatives. There were three other overdoses in Upper Darby during that 24 hour period. The DEA reported on Thursday that drug-related overdose deaths in Pennsylvania rose 37% last year to 13 deaths/day.
