Chem Leak Leads to Secret Lab in Manayunk; Creato Jury Tells Judge They're Stuck; New DUI Charges

Emergency crews responding to a possible chemical leak in Manayunk on Tuesday evening stubbled upon a potential secret drug laboratory. Police, hazmat unit, bomb squad, and narcotics were all called in to the 200 block of Roxborough Ave. Around 7:30 p.m., an officer was flagged down because of an unusual odor coming from an apartment. Officers investigated and found a bucket of chemicals with a timer attached to it. The bomb squad was called and determined it was not explosive. "This is potentially an inactive drug lab," said Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small. Narcotics was called in to investigate. The house was evacuated and no one was injured. Police are waiting to talk to the resident of the apartment.

The jury in the case against a New Jersey man accused of killing his 3-year-old son informed the judge on Tuesday afternoon that they were having trouble reaching consensus on a verdict. They have been deliberating off and on since late last Tuesday. Jurors were off for four days for the holiday weekend. Court started where it left off last week, with the jury rewatching testimony and evidence from the trial including testimony from a detective and social media exchanges between the defendant, David â€œDJâ€ Creato, and his former teenage girlfriend. The judge told the jurors to go home for the day and resume deliberations on Wednesday.

A man previously charged in the death of an off-duty Bucks County deputy sheriff in a car accident earlier this month has been arraigned on new charges of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence. According to the Bucks County District Attorneyâ€™s office, 27-year-old Harry Burak had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.18 percent. The accident happened on May 16th around 8:30 p.m. on the 2400 block of Dublin Pike. Burak was turning into his driveway when he hit 48-year-old Deputy Keith W. Clymerâ€™s motorcycle. Clymer was pronounced dead at the scene. Burak has had four prior DUI's and his license was suspended until 2023. He was on surveillance video at the nearby Wagon Wheel Tavern drinking five beers in an hour-and-a-half and leaving with a 6-pack to go at 6:00 p.m. Burak was previously charged with accidents involving death or bodily injury while not properly licensed. Bail was set at $500,000.
