Man And Woman Found Dead; SEPTA Train Fare Increase; Navy Seal Killed In Parachute Accident

Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a man and woman were found dead in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. Police were called to the 1900 block of East Clearfield Street at around 9 a.m. on Sunday. When police arrived they found both victims with gunshot wounds. Medics shortly arrived as well and pronounced both victims dead. The 54-year-old man was found shot once in the head and once in the stomach, and the 49-year-old victim was found with one gunshot wound to the head. The two were brother and sister. Police have not made any arrests as of yet or determined a motive for the shooting.

They have been identified as 54-Year-Old Raymond Finney and 49-Year-Old Florence 'Mrs. Tina' Pompey.

SEPTA has now announced that the train fares will increase beginning July 1st of this year. SEPTA fare prices tend to increase every three years. There was an increase in 2007, 2010, 2013 and now in 2017. SEPTA says that the increase was delayed from 2016 because it was waiting to unveil its new SEPTA Key first. The increase in prices helps SEPTA fund labor, fuel for buses and trains as well as power. For a full list of price changes visit http://www.septa.org/notice/fare-change-hearing.html.

An investigation is underway after a Navy Seal was killed after his parachute did not deploy during a Fleet Week demonstration over the Hudson River in New York City. The accident took place just after noon on Sunday near Liberty State Park. The parachutist was a member of the elite parachute team called the Leap Frogs. The man was rescued from the water by members of the Coast Guard and local fire department responders who were there on standby. The Jersey City Fire Department Marine Unit took him to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:10 p.m. The man still has yet to be identified, and officials are beginning an investigation into why the parachute did not deploy. Fleet Week is an annual weeklong celebration in the New York City area involving Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen. The Leap Frogs have appeared at Phillies Opening Day here in Philadelphia numerous times in the past.
